A single mistake by any company be it Apple, Samsung, Huawei etc, or the rising brands such as OPPO and Vivo, can be a major blow for them. In many markets iPhone’s sales are increasing. According to recent report of Kantar Worldpanel, iPhone achieved continued growth across many regions, except for Japan, Spain and Urban China. iPhone 7 was a best seller in European Union Five, having a 22.7% share. Whereas this was not the case in China. According to Kantar Worldpanel, iOS sales share in China further dropped by 8.4% YoY for the three-month period ended January.

iPhone’s deteriorating performance in China, which witnessed a 16.6% market share for the quarter, differs from most other markets. iOS smartphones witnessed profit in markets such as Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, the USA, and Australia, expanding between 1.2 percent and 4.9 percent. Even though iPhone shares declined in Spain and Japan over the same period a year prior, respective losses were 1.2 percent and 0.8 percent in the two markets, it was still less than the 8.4% decrease in China. On the other hand, Android also continued to post-market share increases in all regions but the US. In the US, Android accounted for 56.4% of smartphone sales, which decreased by 1.8% as compared to last year. Whereas Android further strengthened its position in China, recording a year-over-year share surge of 9.3 percent to reach 83.2 percent for the three months ending January, while iOS had an 8.4 percent decline, Kantar said in a report revealed on Wednesday.

Image Source: Kantar Worldpanel According to Kantar, Huawei remained the top seller in Asia, selling more than a quarter of overall smartphones, or 26.6 percent, in the region. Apple and Xiaomi lagged behind Huawei with 16.6 percent and 14.5 percent of shares. But the impact of the two brands has been further eroded by rising stars Oppo and Vivo. Android and iOS are growing in market share, Pushing out other Operating Systems

In the US, Germany, and Italy, sales share of Windows phones accounted for 1.3 percent, 2.9 percent, and 4.4 percent. In Japan, the share of Windows phones increased to 1.5 percent from 0.5 percent a year earlier. The report also added that iOS and Android were the only two leading operating systems in the world.
